This group - Star of the East - combines savings and cooking classes. The group has changed what they grow in household gardens because of what they have learned in their cooking classes. “We borrow from the savings group for new seeds. Before we used to grow chaya just for fodder. Now we grow the chaya to mix in our grain cakes. We also grow carrots and other vegetables, plus guayaba.” The classes are part of a program started by CRS. Photo courtesy of Kim Wilson.
