Web journalism today often consists of just linking to other things on the web. Savings Revolution is happy to follow that trend by steering readers to two interesting pieces from the NY Times. (You can follow the links below and not have to subscribe!)

First, an excellent article from December 2009 by Nicolas Kristof called – get ready – “Sparking a Savings Revolution”. Was that title in the back of our minds when we named this site? If so, it was unconscious, and I won’t apologize for stealing his idea because I know that Kristof would be happy to have it shared. He deserves his reputation as someone with a big heart, and he’s always worth reading – no ivory tower writer, he seems to spend half his life overseas, and he writes about people at their very best as much as about people being bad. (The article mentions Savings Revolution blogger Hugh Aprile, who points out that this was picked up by El Espectador of Colombia and printed in Spanish).

Second, an article I liked less, called “Doubting Micro Loans to the Poor”. But it is perhaps worth looking at because of the bizarre – uh, I mean amusing - rhymed comments that it elicited, including one by Hugh Allen, and a couple by me. Scroll down…
